Oribirds are creatures that can fold and unfold their body at will, when unfolded they resemble a square sheet of paper and always return to the original bird-like shape they are known for. Given their light weight and lack of bones, they are quite adept at flight being carried along by the flapping of their small winds and the use of wind currents to gain height. Across Mynros these odd birds find use as messengers, unfolding to allow Mynrosians to write out a message on their inner skin and then fold right back up to be sent off to deliver what was written. They have an uncanny ability to find whichever person the letter is meant for and no one is entirely clear on how they manage this.

This variety of oribird surfaces during the fall, bringing with them messages from beyond the grave. No one is quite certain how they come into contact with the deceased and those who have tried to track their return flights, find these oribirds travel beyond the islands and far out into the sea to some mysterious location. When delivering a message, it will quickly fade from their skin once read leaving a blank sheet for the recipient to send a message back to the original sender. Some Mynrosians even go out of their way to befriend these strange birds to maintain long-term correspondence with those they have lost instead of waiting a whole year for a continuation of their letter.

A unique and festive version of oribird that flock to the various temples around Mynros during the spring. These creatures can fold out into a full sheet and temple acolytes will write a wish or wrap an already written one in the oribird's folds to have it delivered to individuals willing to grant another's wish. How these oribirds find recipients is undetermined, but it's believed they can sense a generous spirit and follow that sense to deliver their message. Rarely, these oribirds will stick around once their message is delivered, choosing to remain by a particular mhoat or vabbit's side instead of returning to another temple.

This strange variety of oribird stands out from its more flexible cousins, it is rather rigid and made of a strange variety of ice that seems unaffected by temperature and weather. A strange inner magic glows within this oribird and appears to fuel their constant frozen state. So, despite being unable to carry messages like other variants of oribirds, these odd little ice cubes find use in various roles. Some Mynrosians use them for cooling during the summer, maintaining temperatures where food is stored, or even creating ambient temperature effects in a confined area. These oribirds appear most often during the winter, the nature of their locomotion is somewhat mysterious as they tend not to move when observed leading many to think they only move when they can't be seen.
